My Name is Dustin, and I deliver for Doordash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Grubhub, Walmart Spark, and other gig apps.
I aim to deliver a better service than I'm sure most are used to on these platforms. I provide my own disposable drink carriers for restaurants that don't provide them. I use an XXL Heated Pizza Bag, and I have a large cold catering bag, to ensure your hot food stays hot, and your cold food stays cold on its way to you. These things are not provided by Doordash or any of the other platforms I use, but are purchased separately by me, so hopefully they help enhance your delivery experience with me.
Did you know... drivers do not get to see specific feedback on orders, other than a star rating, so if you feel we as drivers don't deserve 5☆, we have no idea what to improve for you to give us a better rating.
Please feel free to email me if I did something to deserve a less than optimal rating, so I can improve your future delivery experiences.
Also, remember you are only rating your delivery experience from your driver, so please don't rate poorly based on the food, or something else out of the driver's control; such as sloppy packaging, greasy bags, or a missing item from a sealed order, such as McDonald's(We aren't allowed to open those orders to verify correctness).

Most of these questions relate to the Waverly area, but the questions about pay are true in most areas, in that drivers rely on tips rather than the very low base pay offered by most of the apps we drive for.

In the Waverly area most deliveries are given the base pay of $2.00 to $3.00. (Yes, Doordash charges fees well over $2.00 to $3.00, but it DOES NOT go to your driver.) This includes Denver and Shell Rock orders. Tips are generally the higher paying portion of most deliveries. So, if your order ever goes undelivered, it is most likely because every driver has declined it. Increasing your tip amount is usually a sure-fire way to ensure your order is accepted by a driver. Think of it more as a bid for their service, rather than a tip.
*Some customers will say in the instructions that they will tip cash when you arrive, but those instructions can't be seen until after the driver has accepted the order. Worse yet, some people will "tip-bait" you, and don't deliver the cash tip upon your arrival. For these reasons it is recommended to tip upfront in the app.
Absolutely! Just keep in mind the previous question and that the average delivery only pays $2.00 to $3.00, and for the average driver to accept your order the total with tip would probably need to be a minimum of $1.00 to $2.00 per mile round trip, so a $9.00 tip would work for a trip to Shellrock or Janesville, and more like an $18.00 tip for trips to denver or similar distances of 20 miles round trip.
The short answer is no... but depending on your driver, they may be willing or able to order at the location while they wait, and can bring it to you with the rest of your order. I have done this for customers and simply have them Venmo me the amount of the add-on items.
In probably half of the deliveries we take in Waverly, we cannot see the order details at all, because the customer ordered via the Subway/Walgreens/HyVee app directly, rather than through the DoorDash app. That means we can't see what you ordered, and can't make sure they included everything you ordered. Some orders like those from McDonald's and Burger King are sealed before we accept them, and the app's rules prohibit us from opening them, so we cannot verify everything you ordered was included. For items missing in these instances you would need to contact the store directly, or contact Doordash support.
Hy-Vee prepares their shopping orders in batches. They send orders out at 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm on weekdays. Although there may be dashers online in waverly before that time, we do not get assigned Hy-Vee deliveries except at these times. If you need something prior to these times, you can order directly through the DoorDash app, and may be able to get a dasher to shop for you, instead of a Hy-Vee employee.
Some customers stated they'd rather tip via cashapp or similar when they don't have cash. I'm not sure why this is as common as it is, but I have provided 2 methods for this use. You can either tap the links or scan the QR codes with your phone.
